Poster design for Bay Area Rising's sold-out January 2024 Listening Party and Exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco.
The poster's main purpose was to promote the event digitally and to showcase the artist lineup. The theme of the event was "Growth and Self-Reflection." Under the creative direction of a Bay Area florist, the event space was filled with hundreds of flowers suspended from above, with mirrors covering every wall and floor. The poster illustration highlights the floral setting of the event, while ensuring that its musical and artistic focus are clearly conveyed. It also captured the essence of the event's intimate atmosphere and intricate environment with only the concept as a reference, prior to the finalization and setup of the event space.
Two formats of the poster design were requested, one banner and one square. Two versions of the banner were created with different text positioning. One is intended for general use, with text spread across and to the edges of the design. The other is specifically for the Facebook event listing, as the user is constrained to uploading only one image for both web and mobile viewing. On mobile, the banner would be cropped to its central square with a white fade at the lower edge, which necessitated condensed text. The square format was used for promotion on Instagram.
